FORDBRIDGE IN BLOOM

Fordbridge Town Council would like to invite entries for its 2017 garden competition. "Fordbridge In Bloom" started a number of years ago and has grown in size over the last few years. The Council wants to encourage pride in the area, in the environment generally and to further increase participation in the contest. The Council also wishes to promote, celebrate and acknowledge the many wonderful and varied gardens around the parish of Fordbridge.

The overall winner of this year's competition will win £150 and there are five runners up prizes and also a prize for the best new entrant.

The competition is for front gardens only including ground floor maisonettes and flats. If you wish to enter please telephone 0121 770 0001 and just give the address or send an e-mail to fordbridgetc@gmail.com. You may nominate your own garden or that of a friend, relative or neighbour. The Council hopes that this year will be the most successful competition ever and reminds all gardeners that you never know what will happen unless you enter. It's really important to get your nomination in, you might just be the winner.

The competition will be judged by an independent judge and their decision will be final. The winners will all be honoured at a presentation evening in September. Pictured below is last year's winning garden, 91 Heathmere Drive

Closing date for entries is 30th June 2017

GREAT NIGHT AS FORDBRIDGE SUPPORT'S MIDLANDS AIR AMBULANCE

The Chairman of the Council, Councillor Sarah McLaughlin hosted the annual Chairman's Charity Dance last Saturday evening. A bumper audience were treated to a magnificent evening of music and dancing courtesy of the fantastic Derek James.

The evening was once again a resounding success and the Chairman was delighted that "so many people supported the event and hopefully they've all had a super time". The event this year was staged in support of Midlands Air Ambulance, which is a charity and is not publically funded. The final sum raised will be confirmed very shortly but it is likely to exceed £2,000 again this year.

The Chairman and the Council once again wish to record its enormous gratitude to Birmingham Airport for donating a VIP tour of the Airport for four people as a raffle prize. Sarah is also grateful to Derek James for yet another super show and also to the Buffet Shop for the superb food.

The Council is always honoured to host this event which is designed to raise funds for an incredibly worthy cause but is also an opportunity to bring together the local community. The people of Fordbridge and the surrounding areas always respond, demonstrating the very best of this community. The Council once again thanks everybody for its magnificent support, the money that you raise always make a difference to people who need it.
