OF MEETING OF ENVIRONMENT,HEALTH AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
HELD

1. APOLOGIES
An apology for non-attendance was received from Councillor
Derrick (continuing hip problem).
2. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST BY MEMBERS RELATING TO ITEMS
ON THE AGENDA
There were no declarations of interest made by members relating
to items on the agenda.
3. MINUTES
RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee
held 23rd February 2009 be approved and signed by the Chairman
as a correct record of the proceedings
4. CONSIDERATION OF CORRESPONDENCE FROM BOSWORTH MEDICAL
CENTRE
The Clerk submitted correspondence from Bosworth Medical
Centre in response to an approach by the Council regarding
local asthma levels. The Centre reported that they had not
noticed any significant increase in prevalence since the
introduction of speed bumps. The practice asthma
figures were reported as slightly below the Solihull figure
and slightly above the national level.
5. RESPONSE TO CONSULTATION BY SOLIHULL M.B.C. REGARDING
PROPOSED SPEED
LIMIT CHANGES ON A AND B CLASSIFIED ROADS
The Clerk submitted details of a consultation being carried
out by Solihull M.B.C. following a review of speed limits
on A and B classified roads. The only proposal to directly
affect Fordbridge involves reduction of the speed limit
to 30 m.p.h. on the traffic island at the junction of Chester
Road/Collector Road.
RESOLVED a) that the Clerk write to Solihull M.B.C. requesting:-
i) that action be taken to ensure that bus speeds be reduced
on Bosworth Drive.
ii) that consideration be given to reducing speed limits
on Bosworth Drive and Chelmsley Road.
iii) that display signs advising motorists of their speed
be installed on Bosworth Drive and Chelmsley Road.
b) the Council approach local primary schools with a view
to a joint venture in lobbying for a pedestrian crossing
on Bosworth Drive
6. REPORT OF HOUSING MANAGEMENT,LICENSING AND PLANNING APPLICATIONS
RECEIVED AND DECISIONS TAKEN WITH DELEGATED POWERS
Single Storey Rear Extension To Form Bedroom And En Suite,
141 Bosworth Drive
No objections were raised by members. In accordance with
the provisions of Section 101 of the
Local Government Act 1972, the Clerk decided to raise no
objections.
Erection Of an enamelled Dragonfly Sculpture/Artwork, Island
Within Kingshurst Brook, Meriden
Park, Moorend Avenue
No objections were raised by members. In accordance with
the provisions of Section 101 of the
Local Government Act 1972, the Clerk decided to raise no
objections.
Ground Floor Bedroom And En Suite Extension, 43 Nineacres
Drive
In accordance with the provisions of Section 101 of the
Local Government Act 1972, the Clerk
decided to object to the proposal due to the excessive size
of the extension and overbearing of
the adjacent property.
The meeting closed at 7.25 p.m.
