MINUTES
OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
HELD
ON 20TH APRIL 2009
PRESENT:

7018. APOLOGIES
Apologies for non-attendance were received and accepted
from Councillors Derrick
(continuing infected leg) and Kimberley.
7019. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST BY MEMBERS RELATING TO ITEMS
ON THE AGENDA
There were no declarations of interest made by members relating
to items on the agenda.
7020. COMMENTS,QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS MADE BY MEMBERS
OF THE PUBLIC
There were no comments, questions or suggestions made by
members of the public.
7021. MINUTES
RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Meeting held 9th March
2009 be approved and
signed by the Chairman as a correct record of the proceedings.
7022. CONSIDERATION OF CO-OPTION TO FILL CASUAL VACANCIES:
COLE WARD AND
HATCHFORD WARD
RESOLVED that consideration of this matter be deferred to
the next meeting of the Council.
7023. REPORT BY CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL
The Chairman reported on the super welcome that she received
at the Friends-in-Retirement Easter Bonnet Parade. She also
reported that the Chairman’s Charity Event was a wonderful
evening and thanked Councillor F. Nash and the Clerk for
their assistance. She also thanked Councillor McLaughlin
and her daughter for their help and the other members who
attended.
7024. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
The Minutes of the meeting of the Environmental Health and
Recreation Committee held 6th April 2009 were presented
to the meeting.
RESOLVED that the Minutes be received and the recommendations
contained therein be
approved.
7025. FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE
The Minutes of the meeting of the Finance and General Purposes
Committee held 6th April 2009 were presented to the meeting.
RESOLVED that the Minutes be received and the recommendations
contained therein be
approved.
7026. ACCOUNTS
RESOLVED that the report listing accounts paid as submitted
be approved.
7027. MONTHLY EMPLOYEE COSTS
RESOLVED that the list of monthly employee costs as submitted
be approved.
7028. REPRESENTATIVES’ REPORTS
There were no Representatives’ Reports presented at
the meeting.
7029. DISTRICT COUNCILLOR'S REPORTS
Councillor D. Evans reported on the traffic problems in
Chelmsley Road, disorder outside Archbishop Grimshaw School
and that regeneration is progressing but at a slower pace
due to the economic situation.
Councillor Nash reported on problems with witness protection
and conifer trees.
7030. CONSIDERATION OF STATEMENT OF RECEIPTS AND EXPENSES:CHAIRMAN’S
CHARITY EVENT 2009
The Clerk confirmed that the revenue raised by the Chairman’s
Charity Event amounted to
£749.00 and the cost of staging the event was £635.62.
RESOLVED i)that in accordance with Council policy
the cost of staging the event be underwritten by the Council.
ii)that in accordance with the provisions of Section 137
of the Local Government Act 1972 a total donation of £2,113.38
be made to the two charities chosen by the Chairman.
7031. CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSAL REGARDING “YOUR SOLIHULL
MAGAZINE”
RESOLVED that consideration of this matter be deferred to
the next meeting of the Council.
7032. CONSIDERATION OF A RESPONSE TO MATTERS RAISED DURING
PUBLIC
PARTICIPATION
There were no matters raised during public participation
and therefore no further action was required.
The meeting closed at 7.50 p.m.
