MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

HELD ON 11TH MAY 2009

L. Sorrell, L. Wells, J. Whitehouse

7033. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE 2009/2010 MUNICIPAL YEAR
RESOLVED that Councillor A. Nash be elected Chairman of the Council for the 2009/2010 Municipal Year.
(Councillor Nash declared his acceptance of office)
7034. PRESENTATION OF BADGE TO FORMER CHAIRMAN
The Chairman offered his thanks to the outgoing Chairman for her service over the last year.
He then presented a former Chairman’s Badge to Councillor Sorrell. She in turn offered her
thanks to Councillor F. Nash and the Clerk for their support over the year.
7035. PRESENTATION OF CHEQUES TO DIABETES UK AND BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION
Councillor Sorrell presented cheques for £1,100 to both Diabetes UK and British Heart
Foundation as donations resulting from her Chairman’s Charity Dance. She thanked
everybody for their support at the event.
7036. COMMENTS,QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS MADE BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
There were no comments, questions or suggestions made by members of the public.
7037. APOLOGIES
Apologies for non-attendance were received and accepted from Councillors Derrick
(continuing hip problem) and Glave (holiday).
7038. APPOINTMENT OF VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE 2009/2010 MUNICIPAL YEAR
RESOLVED that Councillor Whitehouse be appointed Vice-Chairman of the Council for the
2009/2010 Municipal Year.
7039. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST BY MEMBERS RELATING TO ITEMS ON THE AGENDA
There were no declarations of interest made by members relating to items on the agenda.
7040. APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES
RESOLVED that membership of the Committees for the 2009/2010 municipal year be as set
out in Appendix A
7041. APPOINTMENT OF REPRESENTATIVES ON OTHER BODIES
RESOLVED that the Council's representatives on other bodies be as set out in Appendix B.
7042. APPOINTMENT OF TWO REPRESENTATIVES ON BOTH THE CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH
COUNCILS
RESOLVED that Councillors Dooley and Ross be appointed as representatives on both the
Children’s and Youth Councils
7043. MINUTES
RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Meeting held 20th April 2009 be approved and signed by the Chairman as a correct record of the proceedings.
7044. CONSIDERATION OF CO-OPTION TO FILL CASUAL VACANCIES: COLE WARD AND
HATCHFORD WARD
The Clerk reported that he had received correspondence from a local resident expressing an
interest in becoming a member of the Council
RESOLVED i)that consideration of this application be referred to the next meeting of the FGP
committee.
ii)that consideration of these vacancies be deferred to the next meeting of the Council.
7045. CALENDAR OF MEETINGS AND EVENTS 2009/2010
RESOLVED that the Calendar of meetings as set out in Appendix C be approved.
7046. REPORT BY CLERK OF THE COUNCIL
The Clerk submitted his proposed annual leave dates for the remainder of the calendar year
and proposed a procedure for annual leave requirements between meetings.
RESOLVED that the Clerk’s leave dates and the procedure for urgent annual leave as detailed in the report be approved.

The meeting closed at 7.50 p.m
